Cashout is where material stops being a string of digits and starts being money. Every stage before it - sourcing, checking, checkout - exists to serve this one stage. This is the full breakdown of how the major methods work in 2026, what each returns, and where each one breaks.

THE CASHOUT CHAIN

  • Authorize - card data gets an approval at a merchant or gateway
  • Capture - the approval turns into an actual charge (instant for digital, days for physical)
  • Convert - the purchased value moves into something liquid: gift card, crypto balance, cash
  • Move - funds pass through mules, exchanges or resale channels
  • Exit - final form: cash in hand, BTC in wallet, or clean account balance

Every method below is a different route through those five stages. Material type picks the route before anything else does.

METHOD 1 - GIFT CARDS

The workhorse of small and mid balances. Card at a retailer checkout, load a gift card (digital or physical), then sell the gift card for crypto or cash at 70-85% of face value depending on brand and buyer pool.

  • Digital cards (instant e-code) move fastest - minutes from checkout to resale
  • Physical cards need a drop address, then in-store liquidation or mail-in resale
  • Best brands for resale: the ones with deep buyer markets - major retail, gaming, gas
  • Resale venues: P2P escrow groups, dedicated carding-resale channels, local buyers

Gift cards work with CVV-only material because most retail gift-card load flows skip full AVS. They cap out - single-card load limits and store velocity flags kick in fast, so volume comes from card variance, not card depth.

METHOD 2 - CRYPTO

Direct card-to-BTC on major exchanges is mostly dead in 2026: exchanges run 3DS on card funding, and card-funded purchases get flagged or reversed. The surviving paths route around that:

  • Gift card to crypto - sell the loaded card to a BTC buyer on escrow, take the sats
  • P2P platforms where prepaid and gift-card funding still clear (region dependent)
  • Merchant crypto-pay processors on small e-commerce - checkout with card, pay to your wallet address through a processor that does not force 3DS

Returns land at 65-80% after the double conversion (card value to gift card to BTC). Speed is the advantage: digital goods plus crypto exit completes inside an hour.

METHOD 3 - PAYMENT APPS AND PAYPAL

Fund an account, send to a mule account, withdraw from the mule. Works best with fullz or logs because account creation and verification demand identity depth - name, address, DOB, phone all have to line up.

  • F&F sends move money without buyer protection - the mule side is where risk concentrates
  • New accounts hit holding periods (up to 21 days) before withdrawal clears
  • Log-based variants skip account creation entirely: hijack a funded account with a stolen session cookie, send out, done

Percentages are better than gift cards (80-90%) and the chain is short, but account death is fast - expect single-use from most accounts.

METHOD 4 - PHYSICAL GOODS AND DROPS

Electronics, gift-ready items, anything with a resale market. Card at a merchant that ships, goods land at a drop address, resale converts to cash. The economics:

  • Return is highest on paper (near 100% of resale value) but slowest - shipping plus resale time
  • Chargeback window is the enemy: the merchant has 120 days to dispute, so sitting inventory is exposure
  • Best categories: phones, laptops, consoles, anything with instant buyer demand
  • Drop infrastructure: reroute services, receiving addresses that are not yours, courier pickup points

Drops is where fullz and logs both shine - shipping requires an address that passes the merchant's checks, and account-based checkout with saved addresses removes the mismatch problem.

METHOD 5 - WIRE TRANSFER / WESTERN UNION

Classic fullz play. Name, address and ID details on the transfer must match the cardholder data exactly. In-person pickup at an agent location, cash handed over. Fee-heavy (10-15% all-in) and it needs either physical presence or a cooperative agent-side mule. It still works where ID verification at the counter is perfunctory - that list has shrunk but never reaches zero.

METHOD 6 - ATM CASHOUT

Magstripe fallback and downgrade flows in regions where ATMs still accept swipe on chip cards. Cash out at a machine with a cloned track, usually with a PIN obtained from skimming or social engineering. Highest cash-in-hand speed, highest physical exposure - camera coverage, serial tracking on bills, and local law enforcement response times make this the method most likely to convert a fraud score into a real-world problem.

WHERE CHAINS BREAK

  • Address mismatch - AVS full-address checks kill more cashout attempts than anything else; zip-only merchants are where CVV material survives
  • Issuer velocity - three same-BIN attempts in an hour and the issuer shuts the range down
  • Mule opsec - the weak link in every money-moving method; a burned mule burns the whole chain behind it
  • Crypto compliance - exchange KYC on the receiving side links wallet to identity; P2P escrow keeps the gap open longer

Method selection starts from balance and material: under $100, gift card to crypto beats everything on speed. Several hundred with fullz, payment-app and drop routes open up. Clean identity data and patience, WU still pays. Match the route to what is actually in hand.

Post your method matrix below - balance tiers and which route you are running on them.
